Sent in my resume to the Fog Creek internship program today. I wonder if it’ll get me an interview…
I’m up to 16 blogs in my aggregator, proving me with a relatively constant stream of interesting and varied content throughout the day. Once Liferea has OPML support for sharing lists of feeds, I’ll make that available.
I got a bunch of papers in the mail today informing me that I have been nominated ‘for membership in the Student Associates Program of the Martindale Center’. This means that I can apply to be one of twelve students selected from the three undergrad schools at Lehigh to join the program for this year. The Martindale Center studies business and economics in different countries, from what I can tell. If I were to join the program, I would go to Washington DC for a couple of days for a ‘briefing’ in April, then I’d go to Spain for about 12 days in mid May. The purpose of this trip would be to study a certain aspect of Spain’s economy and businesses. Then I’d have a three credit course next year to write a major paper on the subject. The best papers get published, apparently.
I think it would be a lot of work but hugely rewarding. I enjoyed studying Spain in class and I’d like to do more in-depth research. It would be awesome to visit Spain again, too.
This adds a bit of complexity to my summer plans because I wouldn’t be able to do this and work in New York if I got that internship (which I need to apply to asap), but the odds of both of those happening are so low I don’t think I need to worry about it.
