Slate, one of the good things to come out of Microsoft, has a great article on Fahrenheit 9/11. I find Michael Moore’s style very entertaining (from Bowling for Columbine), but from what I can tell without actually having seen the movie, he’s using the documentary medium for propaganda. The author makes a great point:
“If I write an article and I quote somebody and for space reasons put in an ellipsis like this (…), I swear on my children that I am not leaving out anything that, if quoted in full, would alter the original meaning or its significance. Those who violate this pact with readers or viewers are to be despised.”

Funniest part of the article… an ad for the movie happened to show up in the middle of the text.

I didn’t get to write anything about the last weekend yet.. On Friday I got to meet Andrew Long for lunch. He was in town to take an exam so we went to Brewworks. I had a good time chatting with him, hopefully he’ll be able to stop by again. I tried a beer that the menu described as “hoppy” or something. It was good, though I didn’t even know that hoppy was a word.

I went home for the weekend and had a great couple of days. I got to see my friend Drew who moved to Colorado when I was in 3rd grade (I hadn’t seen him since). We had a good weekend catching up and going around Avon. I also got to talk with Dean Miller at Nat Lane’s graduation party… I hadn’t talked with him in a long time (maybe even since Middle School, I’m not sure). Definitely a good weekend.

Still putting together the server… it’s become quite a pain. The final parts are on the way, though, so it should be done by the weekend.

“Call me a geek/hippie, but the idea of a multi-billion dollar corporation snubbing its nose at agreed-upon standards is nothing short of infuriating.”

Wow. I’m catching up on my blog reading. I got linked to some guy’s blog eventually, and stumbled upon this little gem.

Take a look at this page from the US Treasury Department: http://www.ustreas.gov/press/releases/js1313.htm. Read the italics at the bottom of the page.

The same statement is at the bottom of this GOP web page, second to last bullet.

A good article about Google’s IPO and their attitudes toward business. The last two paragraphs are excellent… I wish I had written them.

The new house

This entry was written last Thursday and saved on my connectionless computer for over a week. I now have a net connection, so I’m posting it.

I finished moving in to the new house on Vine Street today. The move was tiring since I also worked a full day today, but I’m really happy that it’s done. I have my own room and I’m not living out of boxes. My room has lots of windows in the front of the house, so I’m perched up here with my monitors like I’m air traffic control. The nice thing about not living in a neighborhood of college students is that things quiet down earlier. Parking is a hassle around here, but it could be worse.

There are still some odds and ends to tie up, notably the lack of Internet (I’m saving this post locally). We must have been out when the verizon person stopped by. Hopefully we’ll get it by the weekend. Who knows.

We have lots of kitchen stuff, and it’ll be stocked with food on Saturday, which’ll be great. I love the extra space. I have a “dance floor” area in my room (hopefully it’ll stay clean for a while).

We have two living room-style areas in the house. One has two couches and is the tv room, the other has a couch and a bizzare chair-table thing, and a chair or something (I don’t really remember right now). The other room is for talking, games, meetings, homework, etc. It can also be a guest couch room for when people stay over (we already have a few people booked for the coming weeks).

Let me know if you want to stop by.
