I’m taking the GRE tomorrow. I’m going to spend some time tonight preparing after band, but I don’t have as much time as I’d like. Although my operative vocabulary tends to be fairly big, I haven’t seen many of these words since the SAT. I like doing the math questions, but I’m not looking forward to the writing section. Hopefully the results from this will help me figure out what I’m doing next year.
As of Friday night, I’m no longer manager of the 97.
The banquet went well, Chris did a good job organizing it and everything went smoothly. My speech was a bit bumpy since a lot of it was really last minute (ie as I was getting dressed), but it was entertaining enough to be ok, I think. Although I wouldn’t have said this coming into the banquet, I think the senior skit was legitimately funny, or at least tolerable, this year. I never thought I’d say that. We made it interactive, so that for each year, one skit would be for a made-up event, and we’d pick on a frosh to guess which one was made up. I think it worked out pretty well.
I got really sad thinking that it was the last time for the 2004 exec board to be assembled, I had such a great time with them, and I’ll miss that. Next year’s execs should do well, I think Chris W will be a great manager.
Looking back a bit (without getting too wistful), I enjoyed my time as manager. I think I grew into the role in many respects. I remember two years ago talking about how manager was the worst position and I’d never want to do it, but I’m glad I changed my mind. I didn’t think I was capable of being publicity manager at a time, too.
We had the post-banquet party at 333, which made friday very busy for me. I was happy to see a lot of people show up, specifically some who don’t usually make it to parties. Hopefully I’ll continue to see them this semester.
I didn’t take any pictures of these events, but hopefully I’ll be able to get some from other people.
Went sledding with Patrick, Tyler, Emily, Dan, Maggie, and Chris B tonight, followed by hot chocolate at my house. Lots of fun, it felt like we weren’t in the middle of a week of classes. It also felt like falling down a flight of stairs from time to time, but I’m sure everyone will recover. I really enjoyed it, but I’m a bit stressed about a bunch of things that I keep putting off. I haven’t got a good feel for this semester yet, maybe next week.
Who was the last US President to publicly smoke cigarettes while in office?
TV networks are adjusting their schedules slightly in order to make it harder for PVRs and other stuff to automatically record their shows, and figuring that if a show runs 2-3 minutes late, viewers are less likely to switch to another network since they’ve missed the beginning of that other network’s show.
I ran while watching the special features on the Kill Bill vol2 DVD today. The “making of” thing was rather bland, but the deleted scene on there is worth watching. It had some shots that were used in the trailer, I believe (Bill fights some guy in china).

After not running all week…
Whenever I get bored at home, I tend to do ridiculous workouts. Today was no exception. First of all, I ran 3 miles, one of which was done in 6 minutes. I haven’t run that fast in a while, maybe since high school. I mixed in situps and pushups with quarter mile intervals during my cool down, summing to 140 pushups and 120 situps. Although I feel really tired, I feel like I could still do more. I think I’ll be able to run regularly during the next week, so I’m looking forward to that. When I go back to school, I’ll be outside more, so that’ll probably mean less speed work and more distance.
I still need to make a running icon for these posts, I keep forgetting.
