I’ve got another potential house for the summer. It’s 1.7 miles from work, which is hard to beat. Maybe this one will work out…

This is a very well done graphic describing where your tax dollars go.

Express!

It’s annoying when cheap or free feature-reduced versions of software products (typically Microsoft products) are called “Express Edition”. Why is it an express? Is it faster than what I’d get if I got the full thing? Why wouldn’t paying customers be put on the express?

I’ve got a new “classic Jack Abramoff” userpic for use with political posts. It’s amazing how a guy who nobody knows can get so much done in Washington…

Anyway, it’s rare for me to say such things, but it seems to me that the President is among the most reasonable people in the whole Dubai ports deal thing. It’s rather funny to see the politics of fear work AGAINST him for a change, but at the same time, I hate to watch it. I wish such strategies weren’t so effective. None of the arguments against the ports deal seemed really strong, and I believe that they’re fueled by racism that will leave us less secure in the long run. Perhaps we just want Arab consumers, not Arab businessmen.

The worst part is that Democrats see this as a way to look good on security issues (since they always lose on security), while Republicans seeking reelection are forced to agree, lest they cede the security “hight ground” to the Democrats. This analysis is probably based upon reading the rantings of lunatics online and watching The Daily Show, so take it with plenty of salt.

Apparently if you call in to Bill OReilly’s radio show to say that you disagree with his stance that Keith Olberman should be fired by MSNBC, you get a call from Fox Security.

It would be more amusing if it weren’t true.

I’m now in the Google Group for summer interns, and I subscribed to get emails for new posts. One thing caught my eye:

--~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~
You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Interns" group.

Why are the —-~— lines different? They don’t seem to vary from one message to another (within a group), but it seems very strange. Ideas?
