Google Spreadsheets is out… sorta. They’re going to close it off once they get a big enough test group, so if you’r interested, follow that link and sign up. You’re probably too late already!
Some people are doubting it’ll be useful, but I disagree. Beyond the typical spreadsheet capabilities, the sharing capabilities are really cool. For example, if you wanted to do a signup sheet online without setting up a website, you could just share the spreadsheet with a group. There are lots of other uses, of course, but that one came to mind.
OK, I’ll stop “selling” things now.
This week is off to a good start at work. My code is finally running and has produced some initial results. Now that I have a baseline, I can actually start to try things out, so hopefully I’ll have a very productive week.
So I just found out that David Cross was doing standup at the comedy club I was at tonight a year ago. As far as I can tell, he won’t be in SF this summer. In the process of looking for performance dates, I ran into this fake James Frey excerpt written by David. It’s really well done and funny, if you like his style of comedy.
This is a great clip from Keith Olberman about Bill O’Reilly’s claims about the Malmedy Massacre in World War II. I strongly recommend watching this… it’s entertaining and powerful. Seriously, watch it.
Wikipedia also has a good description of the “controversy”. Wikipedia is dangerous on issues like this sometimes, but that whole article is pretty well-sourced.
Last weekend we went into “the city” (I’m not telling which) to see Frank Caliendo and walk around a lot. The trip was a lot of fun, there are some pictures from that trip and other california stuff on flickr here. Once I get new batteries to my camera, I hope to add to that pool.
I didn’t get as much done as I wanted this week, even for a four day week. Tomorrow I’ve got a relatively social afternoon, so I don’t expect this to change.
We’re all starting to work our way into a schedule. I leave for work at around 8:45 and have breakfast before getting to my desk. Once the day is done, I go to frisbee from 5:30-7 (tues/thurs) and dinner every night at 6:30 or 7 except friday (though that may change… we found out which cafe is open friday for dinner). There are 8-10 google interns at oakwood (my apartment complex), so we tend to hang out a lot, especially in the hot tub after work or barbecuing. Not a bad routine.
This weekend I’ll probably go to a party on Friday and we’ll hopefully make it back to SF on Saturday, taking the train this time.
Oh, last week, I completed my goal of eating at every Google cafe. The last one was Pacific, which serves food from a different asian country each week. Last week was Thai… I didn’t like it, but I had to have it since it was the last cafe left. I hadn’t tried shrimp in a while and I confirmed that I still don’t like it.
I might get some cleats for ultimate… I’m not really a strong enough player that it’ll really affect my play, but wearing my running shoes in the game is giving me blisters since they weren’t designed for that.
