This picture is ghastly and awesome:

Pete took this while we were walking around Hancock, NY. This was the display in the storefront window of a store called “The Trading Post”. It seemed to be closed, and I’m not sure I would have gone in anyway. Seems like something out of The X-Files.
In case you can’t tell, they’re cement heads, some of which are deformed, and some of which have gas masks.
I finished a new version of my bill tracking system earlier today. “Finished” isn’t quite the word, but it’s in a working state. Anyway, basically it lets you easily track bills and divide them up among housemates. I added a bunch of features in the last few days, so it now works with multiple houses and is much more complete in general. If you’d like to use it for your house, get in touch with me soon and I can tell you more about it. The software is not SOX-compliant.
Well, it’s offically my last day of work. I’m waiting for a test to run, and cleaning up some documentation in my code. Hopefully I’ll get out of work before 3am.. I’m pretty confident that I will. Tomorrow will be a lot of documentation, packing, and goodbyes. This week has been pretty intense. I think I’ve been averaging over 14 hrs at work per day, but at least my project has come to some fruition in the last couple of days.
Exhausted from the week, I broke down and tried this “Rockstar Energy Drink” that I found in one of the fridges. It’s not too bad, and it is keeping me going. In fact, as the can suggests, I am now partying “like a rockstar”. We were doing lines of coke off a mousepad and I smashed a guitar into my coworker’s monitor. Being a rockstar sure is great.
OK, back to work. Most likely no updates until I get back to PA (leaving Saturday morning!).
Orkutis google’s social networking site.. it’s pretty small in the US, but huge in Brazil. It’s named after the guy who made it, Orkut Buyukkokten, who still works here. Knowing that it’s the name of a person makes for some amusing reading of news articles, for example: “Orkut Causing Trouble In Brazil Again“. What a wild and crazy guy!
Has anyone been able to connect to lehigh’s mail server in the last 24 hours? I’ve been unable to connect from home or google.
So I’ve now worked a bit under 14 hours today, but I’m still cruising along. I caught myself thinking “I should leave soon so that I can get up early and go to work”, which is especially nonsensical since I don’t have any meetings scheduled until Thursday. My project is finally starting (!) to take form, so it should be a sprint to the finish, specifically for the next two days before I need to present this stuff and have an interview.
While waiting for a test to run, I stumbled upon this video: Windows Vista feature presentation with Mac OSX video overlay. Very well done.
I recently realized that the only windows-only things I use on my laptop is testing web pages in Internet Explorer. Perhaps it’s time to switch… maybe even try Ubuntu on my laptop after reading some good reviews.
Perhaps I’ll get a mac someday, but not within a year of my last laptop.
