I wonder if I can find this movie online anywhere:

The amazon description sounded enticing. If the President takes the Bible literally, you’d think that he’d spend some more time trying to figure out how to fit camels through the eyes of needles…

Bored?

I read about 70 blogs in Google Reader every day, focused on tech news, politics, and stuff about society (culture, other news, etc). Anyway, one of the cool features that Reader has is that you can designate certain items as being “shared”, thus creating a meta-blog consisting of items that I select. So, if you’re looking for something to read, check out my shared items. It’s mostly technical stuff right now, but that’ll change in time.

Back to studying.

Googleplex is getting solar panels

The solar firm will build an installation at the Googleplex with a total capacity of 1.6 megawatts (“enough to supply 1,000 average California homes”)

Maybe I’ll write a “what I’m up to” entry one of these days. I’ve really drifted away from those, but I think it’s for the better. Do you?

Some random music I’ve been enjoying lately:

  • The Flaming Lips – At War with the Mystics
I know I’m sorta late to this party (the album came out in April), but I just started listening to this one. Like most of their other albums, it’s growing on me more and more over time. I remember the first time I listened to them, it took months before I really liked it, but this one is much more accessible.
  • The Killers – Sam’s Town
Parts of this are really good, others seem like more of the same. I’ll have to give it more time, since it came out last week.
  • Herbie Hancock – Fat Mama (track)
This song is great for its whimsy. You can just tell that Herbie is having a great time playing it and can’t help but smile.
  • Armor for Sleep – What To Do When You Are Dead
Not a big departure from Dream To Make Believe, but a few of the tracks have some depth. Specifically, I’ve enjoyed Basement Ghost Singing despite its somewhat whiny vocals. Not sure why it took me so long to find this album.. I thought it was new at first.

Any recommendations? Thoughts on these?

Quotes of note

GWB quotes:
“177 of the opposition party said, ‘You know, we don’t think we ought to be listening to the conversations of terrorists.’” (Oct 5)
“Democrats take a law enforcement approach to terrorism. That means America will wait until we’re attacked again before we respond.” (Oct 3)

Compared to a month ago: “We must put aside our differences and work together to meet the test that history has given us.” (Sept 11)

(edit: the timestamp for this post was screwed up, hopefully it’s working right now)

Haha.. Fox News apparently made the same “mistake” twice:

WAR IS PEACE
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

I typically don’t promote online video, but I really like The Show. I got hooked over the summer, during which time I had the Earth Sandwich song in my head for about a week.
