It’s amazing that authorities in Boston can claim that their handling of the light-up-signs terrorist threat is a demonstration that the system works. It took them two weeks to recognize the “bombs”, and even then it was a false positive. I’m not even arguing that it was an over-reaction, but even if it’s not, it’s not a demonstration of “the system” working. The system works when you catch actual threats before they hurt people. Also, calling the signs a “hoax” is an irresponsible misrepresentation. A hoax is intended to invoke panic and would be intended to look like a bomb (in this case).
