OK, so, I’m not sure if this has been part of the topic the whole time, but I ran into this CBS News article from Dec 29, 2004:
Olympic gold medalist swimmer Michael Phelps was sentenced to 18 months probation Wednesday after pleading guilty to drunken driving.
In the previous post, I asked:
I wonder what the reaction would have been if Phelps had been caught on camera running a red light, instead. That’s also illegal, and is much more dangerous, but it doesn’t have the same social implications.
So, I guess I didn’t really have to wonder that much.
