One of my vague goals for 2010 was to read 20 books. I’m way behind on this and I decided to get a Kindle to help accomplish this, especially given all the travel I had coming up in the last few months of the year. It has been a good experience so far, and I’m now 4 books closer to completion, though it’s still a challenge to find good reading time. One thing I do like about the Kindle is that it isn’t a multi-purpose device: I’m not tempted to quickly check my email on it or anything. Granted, I still have my phone in my pocket typically, but that small amount of separation makes a big difference. More on this in a separate post.

Definitely. That, along with the backlight, is why I didn’t opt for reading on an iPad or my phone.
